How Do I Learn To Cook Without Wasting Food?
I can cook some things like crab rangoon, tuna casserole, easy stuff. I want to cook the dishes my mom makes and other recipes (she shows me but she always estimates the time and amount she puts in which is hard).
I want to learn to cook but I’m afraid I’ll do terrible and the food will go to waste, I hate wasting food. Any advice? Oh, and I’m always too lazy with no motivation to cook…I always end up buying some fast-food or my mom’s left over cooking.
Use recipes. You can get good recipes from Recipezaar.com. You can sort them by rating. If they have 20 or more stars, then they’re pretty well-tested and you can trust that they will turn out decent.
You can also search the site by ingredient. I look at what’s on sale in the ads, and then I see what things I can cook with it. Last week it was broccoli. I made raw broccoli salad, a chicken stir-fry and spicy thai peanut. Stay away from recipes where you have to buy a lot of stuff. Sometimes you end up spending $4 on a spice that you’ll never use again. I always find recipes with ingredients that are simple, inexpensive or I already have them onhand.
The site lets you print out the recipe and it lets you save your favorites to a “cookbook”, so they’re all in one place.
Buy yourself a cook book and follow directions to a tee. If you can read, you can cook.
if it is bad take it to work… family gatherings etc…. and deny making it.
